At the 2014 Zhuhai Airshow, the Wing Loong or Pterodactyl Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) from AVIC was again displayed. However, unlike in Zhuhai Airshow 2012, this time the display model carried the official emblems and insignia of the Chinese Air Force.
This confirms that the Wing Loong UAV has now entered service in China as the unit was pulled from service with number 76024. At the airshow, the UAV was also referred to as GJ-1 (Gongji) in contrast to the past where it was known only as the Wing Loong or Pterodactyl.
The Wing Loong / Pterodactyl / GJ-1 Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAV is designed for persistent Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) thanks to its extended range and endurance. It can carry out a wide range of missions, including battle damage assessment.
Depending on mission, the GJ-1 can be equipped with various electro-optical and other surveillance equipment, including the LE-350, YY-1 and YY-12 pod. The GJ-1 can also be used for precision attack in real-time as it can carry a wide range of precision guided munitions.

AGM-88E AARGM and GBU-39 SDB to be integrated on Tornado aircraft
NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA) and Panavia Aircraft GmbH have signed the MET 27 contract regarding the Tornado aircraft. The work will be carried out in Italy and completed by 2015.
The contract calls for the integration of the Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile (AARGM) and the Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) on the Tornado RET 7 and RET 8 configuration.
The AGM-88E AARGM is the latest version of the AGM-88 High Speed Anti-Radiation Missile (HARM), which is used for Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) and Destruction of Enemy Air Defenses (DEAD).
The medium-range, air-to-ground AARGM was jointly developed by the United States and Italy and has:
The addition of a Millimeter Wave radar to the original passive radar homing seeker increases the AARGM effectiveness when used against targets such as mobile or relocatable Integrated Air Defense Systems, including those that shutdown their radars.
The GBU-39 SDB is a 250 pound glide bomb guided by GPS. It has a length of 1.8 m and a width of 0.19 m and a maximum range of 105 km. Its small and compact size allows a greater number to be carried by aircraft or using internal carriage.
The SDB has a diamondback foldout wing and is designed to penetrate hardened structures such as bunkers with little collateral damage. An improved version will have a multi-mode seeker to engage mobile targets.

Chinese Sensor Fuzed Top Attack Smart Submunitions
The People's Republic of China has developed their own version of sensor fuzed, top-attack, smart submunitions, similar to the M898 SADARM (Sense And Destroy Armor) of the United States, which proved effective during campaigns in Iraq.
The submunitions can suppress a wide area and are used to target vehicles, especially tanks, by attacking them from above where their armor is usually the thinnest and most vulnerable.
Each fire-and-forget munition will work independently from each other and can be guided using various means, such as millimetric wave radar or imaging infrared .
The munitions work as follow:
The munitions have been integrated on a variety of platforms, such as the 155 mm PLZ05 self-propelled howitzer and the 300 mm PHL03 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS).

Israel orders 6900 JDAM kits in $647 million deal with US
Israel has placed a $647 million order of Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) tail kits and associated parts with the United States. The package includes:
Manufactured by Boeing and Lockheed, the JDAM is a low-cost guidance kit designed to convert existing 500lb, 1,000lb and 2,000lb unguided free-fall bombs into precision guided smart munitions.
The kit consists of adjustable tail fins and an inertial navigation system / global positioning system control unit, capable of accurately delivering bombs from very low to very high altitude in all-weather conditions.
